Yes, I’m back to an old subject again, back to an old decision, a decision which was already taken: Nexus One or iPhone! And I was sure I took the right one, deciding for the iPhone, but then everything changed and right now I’m tempted to move back to the Nexus One again …
Why?
I’m experiencing serious problems with the iPhone after the update to iOS 4. It is actually only one problem: Everything is too slow, way too slow! It takes ages to start most applications. Then again it takes a long time until I can type something in standard applications, as for example Google Maps. And sometimes applications crash, probably because of some timeout problem.
Researching the topic in the internet and talking to other iPhone 3G users I found out, that there are many having the same problem and no solution. iPhone 3GS users seem to be fine.
Even completely resetting the phone and installing iOS 4.0.1, as some people recommended, didn’t solve the problem for me. It also seems that there is no easy way going back to prior iOS 3.
How about the iPhone 4?
First, it’s not out yet in Spain, but I’m really looking forward to trying it out. For sure I won’t be the first one who’ll get it, I want to see it first, hold it in my hand, feel it and see what AntennaGate is all about. But yes, I’m considering it …
AntennaGate?
I don’t really like how the subject is handled by Apple. Instead of coming up with solutions, they compare DATA – with older iPhones and with with other companies products. Does that solve the problem? Will this make all users happy? They can say: “Hey, my iPhone has no reception, but your Blackberry hasn’t either … just hold it like that and you’ll see!”.
Anyway, it still seems to be the best smartphone around. And on one point they might be right: it’s probably not such a big issue as people make it. But I want to check it out by myself first. DATA, comparison and a “bumper” don’t convince me. And, if in the end I don’t like it, there’s a lot of other good options on the market. Not the Nexus One anymore, since it was already taken from the market in the US – which I don’t really understand. It is still a great phone and I’ll be using it during the upcoming weeks until there is a solution or a new phone. It might be a good time for a new mobile experience …

Don’t think it needs any explanation …
